Cornhusker State Games

 

On July 19th and 20th, 12 members of the Fremont Wrestling Club competed at the Cornhusker State Games. In the Scholastic Competition the results were:
 
Second place went to Keisean Ferdinand and Gabrielle Weyhrich. Third place went to Austin Weyhrich, and Alex Smith. Honorable Mention went to  Devon Snow, Zach Hamilton and Curtis Smith.
 
In the Greco Competition Gabrielle Weyhrich took 2nd.

 

In Takedowns second place went to Zach Hamilton and Devon Snow. Third went to Head Coach Sean Edie. Honorable Mention went to Keisean Ferdinand.

 

On July 26th Devon Snow competed in Beach Wrestling and took 1st place. Congratulations to all the Fremont Wrestlers!

Huskerland State Tournament

On April 12 and 13th, 20 qualifying wrestlers traveled to Kearney to attend the Huskerland State Wrestling Tournament. Taking first place was Clay Konicek and Torrey Escamilla. Second place finishes went to Brandon Lincoln, Trevor Smolinski, Felipe Pinales,  Michael Lambert, Austin Weyhrich and Sean Mueller. Third place went to Tyler Thomsen and Sean Lambert. Fourth place went to Keisean Ferdinand and Gage Harbaugh. Honorable Mention went to Gabrielle Weyhrich, Paxton Sternberg, Devon Snow, Trevor Foster, Dylan Schiermeyer,  Spencer Swanson and Layne Goreham. Champion of Champion title went to Clay Konicek.

Girls National Wrestling Association Tournament

On April 5, 2 girls traveled to the Girls National Wrestling Association Tournament. Gabrielle Weyhrich and Hailey Schiermeyer both took home first place.

 

Lincoln Pius Tournament

On April 4, 6 wreslters and two adults battled another tournament in the afternoon. Taking first place was Alex Smith, Cody Fielder, Hailey Schiermeyer and Garret Swanson. Second place went to Alex Clark. Fourth place went to Zach Hamilton. Head Coach Sean Edie took third place and Curtis Smith took fourth place.

Malcolm Tournament

On April 4, 22 wrestlers traveled to Malcolm to compete. First place went to Alex Clark, Cody Fielder, Garret Swanson (1st and 2nd division), Hailey Schiermeyer (3rd and 4th division) and Gage Harbaugh. Second place went to Alex Smith, Hailey Schiermeyer (1st and 2nd division), Austin Weyhrich, Brian Fielder and Trevor Smolinski. Third place went to Trevor Foster, Dylan Schiermeyer, Sean Mueller, Keisean Ferdinand, Decon Snow and Felipe Pinales. Fourth place went to Zach Hamilton, Garret Swanson (3rd and 4th division), Spencer Swanson and Paxton Sternberg.

Wahoo Tournament

On March 31, 26 wrestlers traveled to Wahoo to compete. First place finishers were Alex Clark and Sean Mueller. Second place went to Colton McCurdy, Ben Castillo, Hayden Reeser, Alex Smith, Hailey Schiermeyer, Garret Swanson, Gage Harbaugh, Paxton Sternberg, Devon Snow, Tyler Thomsen and Gabrielle Weyhrich. Third place went to Jarren Hammond, Lane Grant, Preston Rieger and Spencer Swanson. Fourth place went to Zach Hamilton, Trevor Foster and Brian Fielder.

Waverly Tournament

On March 29, 2008, 25 wrestlers competed at the Waverly Tournament. First place finishes went to Alex Clark, Zach Hamilton, Hayden Reeser, Cody Fielder (1st and 2nd division), Hailey Schiermeyer (1st and 2nd division), Sean Mueller, Sean Lambert, Keisean Ferdinand, Michael Lambert, Felipe Pinales, Tyler Thomsen and Brandon Lincoln. Second place Preston Reiger, Garret Swanson (1st and 2nd division), Paxton Sternberg, Devon Snow and Gabrielle Weyhrich. Midwest Classic Nationals

On March 21 and 22, 22 wrestlers competed for the Fremont Wrestling Club including past and present members at the Midwest Classic National Tournament. First place went to Casey Harper. Second place went Alex Smith. Third place went to Stephan Laboy and Colton Harper. Fourth place went to Zach Hamilton, Cody Fielder and Keisean Ferdinand. Fifth place went to Hayden Reeser and Brandon Lincoln. Sixth place went to Brian Fielder and Casey Harper. Honorable Mention went to Alex Clark, Cody Carlson, Hailey Schiermeyer, Gage Harbaugh, Garret Swanson, Dylan Schiermeyer, Sean Mueller, Paxton Sternberg, Devon Snow, Tyler Mathison (15 & under division), Clay Konicek and Tyler Mathison (18 & under division).

On March 22, 4 members of the Fremont Wrestling Club traveled to Omaha for the Westside Tournament. First place went to Felipe Pinales. Third place went to Gabrielle Weyhrich. Fourth place went to Tyler Thomsen. Honorable Mention went to Austin Weyhrich.

 

Wisner

On March 16,  22 wrestlers competed at the Wisner Invitational. First place finishes went to Alex Clark, Zach Hamilton, Cody Fielder (1st and 2nd division), Cody Carlson, Hailey Schiermeyer (1st and 2nd division), Preston Reiger, Cody Fielder (3rd and 4th division) and Layne Goreham. Second place went to Ben Castillo, Alex Smith, Austin Weyhrich, Hailey Schiermeyer (3rd and 4th division), Brian Fielder, Paxton Sternberg and Gabrielle Weyhrich. Third place went to Parker Sternberg, Keaton Hintz, Garret Swanson (1st and 2nd division), Trevor Foster, Dylan Schiermeyer and Spencer Swanson. Fourth place went to Gage Harbaugh, Garret Swanson (3rd and 4th division), Trevor Smolinski and Harley Larson.

On March 15, 28 wrestlers competed at the North Bend Invitational. First place went to Cooper Leriger, Alex Clark,  Zach Hamilton and Jackson Ritchhart. Third place went to Ty Leriger, Lane Grant, Ben Castillo, Keaton Hintz, Austin Weyhrich, Garret Swanson (3rd and 4th division), Sean Lambert and Trenton Tucker. Fourth place went to Jarren Hammonel and Harley Larson. Honorable Mention went to Trevor Foster, Dylan Schiermeyer, Spencer Swanson and Keisean Ferdinand.

On March 15, 6 wrestlers competed at the Bennington Invitational. First place went to Cody Fielder and Casey Harper. Second place went to Brian Fielder. Third place finishes went to Morgan Giesick, Paxton Sternberg and Devon Snow (5th and 6th division). Fourth place went to Devon Snow (7th and 8th division).

 

Columbus Lakeview

On March 9 Tyler Thomsen traveled to the Columbus Lakeview Invitational and placed second with two pins.

 

West Point Invitational

On March 9, the Fremont Wrestling Club traveled to West Point to compete. First place finishes went to Alex Clark, Cooper Leriger, Colton McCurdy, Zach Hamilton, Garret Swanson ( 1st and 2nd division), Gage Harbaugh, Austin Weyhrich, Sean Mueller, Brian Fielder, Paxton Sternberg and Gabrielle Weyhrich. Second place went to Ty Leriger, Alex Smith, Keaton Hintz, Cody Fielder (1st and 2nd division), Hailey Schiermeyer (1st and 2nd) and Cody Fielder (3rd and 4th).  Third place went to Lane Grant, Hayden Reeser, Dylan Schiermeyer, Spencer Swanson, Garret Swanson (3rd and 4th), Trevor Foster, and Hailey Schiermeyer (3rd and 4th). Fourth place went to Dawson Pritchett, Brian Fielder and Harley Larson.

Lincoln Junior Hawks Invitational

 On March 8, eight wrestlers traveled to Lincoln to compete at the Lincoln Junior Hawks Tournament. First place went to Zach Hamilton, Hailey Schiermeyer (3rd and 4th division) and Felipe Pinales. Second place went to Alex Smith. Third place went to Ben Castillo, Hailey Schiermeyer (1st and 2nd division) and Garret Swanson. Fourth place went to Morgan Giesick.

Logan View Tournament

On March 7, 10 wrestlers competed at the Logan View Tournament. First place went to Cooper Leriger and Alex Smith. Second place went to Morgan Giesick and Trenton Tucker. Third place went to Nolan Thomsen, Trevor Foster, Dylan Schiermeyer, Tanner Vanek and Harley Larson.

 

Norfolk Catholic Duals

On March 6 and 7, Norfolk Catholic hosted a dual team tournament. Teams present included Columbus, Norfolk, Battle Creek, Madison and Fremont. The 6-8th grade team took second place with the following team points scores: win against Battle Creek 47-28, win against Norfolk Public 44-23, win against Madison 46-23, and loss to Columbus 30-41. Team members and individual records included Paxton Sternberg(4-1, 3 pins), Trevor Smolinski (4-1, 2 pins), Trenton Tucker (5-0, 2 pins), Gabrielle Weyhrich (2-3), Michael Swanson (from Schuyler  2-, 1 pin), Zach Zoerb (from Schuyler 5-0, 3 pins), Michael Lambert (0-5), Blake Smolinski (2-3, 2 pins), Omar Rodrigueez (from Schuyler 1-4), Harley Larson (0-5), Dalton Jenkins ( 5-0, 5 pins), Oliver Rivera (4-1, 3 pins), Torrey Escamilla (3-2, 1 pin) and Jared Kreikemeier (from North Bend 4-1, 1 pin).

On March 2,  the Fremont Wrestling Club traveled to Howells to compete. Second place went to Zach Hamilton, Alex Smith, Cody Fielder, Alex Clark, Preston Reiger, Garret Swanson, Cody Carlson (3rd and 4th division), Paxton Sternberg, Trenton Tucker, Michael Lambert, Skylar Babb and Gabrielle Weyhrich. Third place went to Hayden Reeser. Fourth place went to Spencer Swanson, Blake Smolinski and Harley Larson. On March 1, 2008,  38 wrestlers competed at the Arlington Tournament. First place went to Ty Leriger, Cooper Leriger, Alex Smith, Colton McCurdy, Cody Carlson, Hailey Schiermeyer, Garret Swanson, Austin Weyhrich, Sean Mueller, Tyler Thomsen and Harley Larson. Second place went to Hayden Reeser, Kade Richardson, Cody Fielder, Jackson Ritchhart, Cory Harper, Layne Goreham Morgan Giesick and Skylar Babb. Third place went to Alex Clark, Ethan Villwok, Nolan Thomsen, Ben Castillo, Dylan Bagley, Zach Hamilton, Spencer Swanson and Devon Snow. On March 1, a Fremont wrestler competed at the KWAA National Tournament in Omaha. Felipe Pinales took first place.

On February 24, 2008, 30 wrestlers traveled to Columbus to compete. First place went to Alex Clark, Cody Carlson (1st & 2nd Division), Garret Swanson (1st & 2nd Division), Sean Lambert, Trevor Smolinski and Michael Lambert. Second place went to Ethan Villwok, Cooper Leriger, Nolan Thomsen, Colton McCurdy, Alex Smith, Hailey Schiermeyer, Caleb Villwok, SPencer Swanson, Brian Fielder and Skylar Babb. Third place went to Zach Hamilton, Hayden Reeser, Cody Fielder, Keaton Hintz, Cody Carlson, Gage Harbaugh, Paxton Sternberg and Felipe Pinales. On February 23, 2008 27 wrestlers competed at the Tekamah-Herman Tournament. Second place went to Ty Leriger, Cody Fielder (1st & 2nd Division), Hayden Reeser, Keaton Hintz, Jackson Ritchhart and Cody Fielder (3rd & 4th Division). Third place went to Alex Clark, Hailey Schiermeyer, Cody Carlson (3rd & 4th Division), Morgan Giesick, Chase Jensen, Harley Larson and Casey Harper. Fourth place went to Trevor Foster, Cory Harper, Brian Fielder and Paxton Sternberg.

 

West Point Central Catholic Tournament

On February 23 a Fremont wrestler competed in the West Point CC Tournament. Dylan Schiermeyer took second place.

 

O'Neill Tournament

On February 22, 2008 two wrestlers traveled to O'Neill, Ne to compete. Spencer Swanson placed third and had a win in a exhibition match. Garret Swanson took third place.

On February 10, FWC open members competed at Lincoln East. Second place went to Hailey Schiermeyer and Trenton Tucker. Third place went to Gage Harbaugh, Spencer Swanson, Sean Lambert, Devon Snow, Michael Lambert and Gabrielle Weyhrich. Fourth place went to Garret Swanson, Keisean Ferdinand (11 & 12 division), and Mark Bilava. Champion of Champions titles went to Felipe Pinales and Brandon Lincoln.

On February 10, FWC novice members competed at Archbishop Bergan's Novice Invite. Taking first place were Alex Clark, Cooper Leriger, Colton McCurdy (K division), Nolan Thomsen, Jasten Zurcher, Zach Hamilton, Jacob Sellon, Tanner Vanek, Mason Lewis, Devin Zurcher, Brian Fielder, Trevor Smolinksi and Blake Smolinski. Second place went to Keaton Hintz, Jackson Ritchhart, Spencer Fitz, Preston Reiger, Alexis Villwok, Trevor Foster, Skylar Babb and Chase Jensen. Third place went to Ben Castillo, Ethan Villwok, Cohen Zurcher, Dylan Bagley, Colton McCurdy (1st grade division), Alex Smith, Caleb Villwok, Layne Goreham, Harley Larson and Moises Nuno. On February 9, five wrestlers traveled to Sioux City to compete. First place went to Cody Fielder and Tyler Thomsen. Third place went to Gage Harbaugh. Nolan Thomsen and Brian Fielder placed fourth.

 

Coaches participate in Hot Dog Eating Contest

Four Fremont Wrestling Club coaches try their best at the Big Red Keno Hot Dog Eating Contest during the Super Bowl on February 3. Coaches Eric Castillo, Elliot Foster, Sean Edie and Tom Fielder tried their best hot dog eating...and failed. The four fearless coaches endured a taste of their own medicine with 6 of their wrestlers coaching them on proper hot dog eating technique in hopes of taking home the title of winner. Taking home third place was Eric Castillo and Honorable Mention went to Elliot Foster, Sean Edie and Tom Fielder.

 

At least they coach better than they eat hot dogs.

 

Schuyler

On February 3, 2008, the Fremont Wrestling Club traveled to Schuyler. Taking first place was Zach Hamilton, Hailey Schiermeyer, Gage Harbaugh, and Clay Konicek. Second place went to Colton McCurdy, Alex Smith, Cody Fielder, Garret Swanson, Jackson Ritchhart, Trenton Tucker, Tyler Thomsen, Mark Bilava and Brandon Lincoln. Third place went to Ben Castillo, Hayden Reeser, Austin Weyhrich, Sean Mueller, Sean Lambert and Paxton Sternberg. Fouth place went to Keisean Ferdinand and Michael Lambert. On February 2, 2008, 17 wrestlers traveled to Yutan to compete. First place went to Jaston Zurcher, Alex Smith, Cody Fielder, Trevor Foster, Sean Mueller and Morgan Giesick. Second place went to Hayden Reeser, Hailey Schiermeyer, Tanner Vanek and Layne Goreham. Finishing third place was Cohen Zurcher, Zach Hamilton, Dylan Schiermeyer, Devin Zurcher and Skylar Babb. Fourth place went to Brian Fielder and Chase Jensen.

On January 27, 2008, 41 wrestlers traveled to Valley to compete in the D.C. West Tournament. On January 26, 2008 34 wrestlers traveled to Scribner to compete. Second place went to Lane Grant, Cooper Leriger, Alex Clark, Preston Rieiger, Hayden Reeser, Cody Carlson, Garret Swanson, Caleb Villwok, Brian Fielder, Paxton Sternberg, Trenton Tucker, Felipe Pinales, Michael Lambert, Tyler Thomsen and Mark Bilava. Third place finishes went to Zach Hamilton, Jackson Ritchhart, Trevor Foster and Devon Snow. Fourth place went to Ty Leriger, Ben Castillo, Gavin Richardson, Dylan Schiermeyer, Dawson Prichett, Tanner Vanek, and Riley Weyer. On January 24, the Fremont Wrestling Club took 20 wrestlers to Columbus for a dual. The dual team included 3rd- 5th grade division Brian Fielder (win by fall), Gage Harbaugh, Austin Weyhrich, Sean Mueller, Spencer Swanson, Sean Lambert (win by fall), Skylar Babb, Moses Nuno, Felipe Pinales (win) and Tyler Thomsen. 6th-8th grade division included Morgan Geisick (win by fall), Paxton Sternberg(win), Trevor Smolinski (win by tech fall), Devon Snow (win by fall), Gabrielle Weyhrich (win), Brandon Lincoln (win by fall),  Michael Lambert, Blake Smolinski (win by fall), Clay Konicek (win by fall) and Harley Larson. The Fremont Wrestling Club Dual team won the 6th-8th grade division.

Plattsmouth Tournament

On January 20 the Fremont Wrestling Club traveled to Plattsmouth to compete. Taking first place was Alex Smith, Colton McCurdy, Gage Harbaugh, Austin Weyhrich, Paxton Sternberg, Felipe Pinales, Trevor Smolinski, and Brandon Lincoln. Second place finishes went to Jaston Zurcher, Haysen Reeser, Nolan Thomsen, Lane Grant, Alex Clark, Dylan Bagley, Cody Fielder, Cody Carlson, Garret Swanson, Trevor Foster and Sean Mueller. Third place went to Cohen Zurcher, Cooper Leriger, Preston Reiger, Keaton Hintz, hailey Schiermeyer, Morgan Giesick, Tanner Vanek, Layne Goreham, Brian Fielder, Skylar Babb, Harley Larson, Gabrielle Weyhrich and Blake Smolinski. Forth place went to Ty Leriger, Ben Castillo, Zach Hamilton, Dawson Prittchett, Jackson Ritchhart, Spencer Swanson, Riley Weyer and Devon Snow.

BJSA Tournament

On January 19 three wrestlers competed at the Bellevue Junior Sports Association Tournament. Gage Harbaugh took second place, and Devon Snow and Zach Hamilton took third place.

Lincoln Warriors Tournament

The Fremont Wrestling Club traveled to Lincoln on Sunday, January 13 to compete. First place went to Zach Hamilton, Hailey Schiermeyer, Michael Lambert and Clay Konicek. Taking second place were Hayden Reeser, Cody Carlson, Keaton Hintz, Dylan Bagley, Garret Swanson, Caleb Villwok, Gage Harbaugh, Austin Weyhrich, Sean Lambert and  Layne Goreham. Third place went to Lane Grant, Cooper Leriger, Alex Smith, Cody Fielder, Jackson Ritchhart, Jacob Fritz, Sean Mueller, Cutty Castillo, Brian Fielder, Skylar Babb, Devon Snow and Blake Smolinski. Fourth place went to Ty Leriger, Nolan Thomsen, Alex Clark, Cohen Zurcher, Ethan Villwok, Ben Castillo, Preston Reiger, Nathan Adams, Dylan Schiermeyer, Spencer Swanson, Tanner Vanek, Alexis Villwok, Devin Zurcher, Morgan Giesick, Keisean Ferdinand, Trevor Smolinksi, Trenton Tucker (5th & 6th Division), Riley Weyer, Trenton Tucker (7th & 8th Division), Gabrielle Weyhrich, Mark Bilava and Harley Larson. Fifth place placers were Jaston Zurcher and Felipe Pinales. Fremont Wrestling Club took 4th place in the Overall Team Standings.

Red Oak Tournament

On Saturday, January 12, 2008 seven wrestlers traveled to Head Coach Sean Edie's hometown of Red Oak, Iowa. Placing first were Garret Swanson, Gage Harbaugh and Clay Konicek. Devon Snow placed third, while Zach Hamilton, Spencer Swanson and Paxton Sternberg took third place.

Millard West Tournament

The Fremont Wrestling Club competed at the Millard West Invite on Sunday January 6, 2008.  Finishing in first place were Cody Carlson, Zach Hamilton (6 & Under Division), Gage Harbaugh, Colton McCurdy, Felipe Pinales, Trevor Smolinski, Tyler Thomsen, Trenton Tucker, Austin Weyhrich. Second place went to Dylan Bagley, Keisean Ferdinand (11 & 12 Division), Cody Fielder, Michael Lambert, Cooper Leriger,  Clay Konicek, Sean Mueller, Alexander Smith, Garret Swanson, Gabrielle Weyhrich. Taking third place was Cutty Castillo, Keisean Ferdinand ( 9& 10 Division), Bryan Fielder,  Zach Hamilton (7 & 8 Division), Keaton Hintz, Sean Lambert, Harley Larson,  Ty Leriger, Hayden Reeser, Jackson Ritchhart, Devon Snow, Spencer Swanson. Fourth  place went to Nathan Adams, Skyler Babb, Cole Barnhart, Ben Castillo, Lane Grant, Dawson Pritchett, Dylan Schiermeyer, Hailey Schiermeyer.

Holiday Open/Novice Tournament

On November 25, 2007 three wrestlers competed at the Millard North Holiday Open and Novice Tournament. Zach Hamilton placed second with a win and a win by pin. Garret Swanson took third place with a win by pin. Spencer Swanson took second place win two wins.
